Porto: 3 City Walking Tours

Built upon the sloping banks of the Douro, Porto is defined by its Baroque churches, steep winding streets, elegant gardens, and lively markets. Its most recognisable trademark, however, is its unique port production: a robust sweet wine with fruity, chocolatey, and nutty notes. With the help of our Porto city guides, we'll give you the opportunity to discover the city's best churches, markets, gardens, wineries, and so much more.

Start your Porto exploration by taking a guided Old Town tour through the rustic streets of Ribeiro. By gaining insight into the city's roots, you'll gain an understanding of what the city is all about. Beginning at Praça do Infante D. Henrique, the Old Town Square, we head towards Sé do Porto, the city's romantic Romanesque cathedral, stopping to take pictures at viewpoints along the way. After passing some pretty churches and mansions, we cross the Ponte de D. Luís, the city's postcard-famous bridge, to the Douro's south bank, where we will rest at the Jardim do Morro and enjoy unbeatable views of Ribeira and the river. Arriving back in Ribeiro, we ride the funicular to the upper city, where we will find astounding architectural highlights, including the Igreja Santa Clara, Igreja de São Francisco, and the mediaeval castle ruins. The tour ends outside the Palacio da Bolsa, a splendid 19th-century palace built along the riverfront to impress foreigners arriving in the city by boat.

After getting a sense of Porto's history and beauty, we'll show you the rest of the city's cultural attractions with our Highlights guided tour. Be ready to discover the most bustling markets, the coolest hangout spots, and more must-see landmarks that weren't revealed on our Old Town tour. The tour starts at one of Porto's top exhibition and nightclub venues, Mercado Ferreira Borges, and continues to the iconic Torre dos Clérigos. Next, we check out the student scene at Universidade do Porto before stopping to admire the masterful tiled facade of Igreja do Carmo which stands out as one of the city's most beautiful buildings.

Remember, you haven't truly explored Porto until you've experienced our Nightlife tour. We take you on a guided walk through Porto's most trendy neighbourhood, Cedofeita, to see the city's churches, palaces, and streets under the moonlight.
