Free London Museums for Kids

It's fantastic that most London museums are totally free of charge. It's becoming increasingly common to be asked to make a voluntary donation, although as of this time, doing so was not required.   A quick visit to a museum can last anything from ten minutes to an entire day. If you go to a popular museum, you can count on lines and maybe even a bag search. You should probably double-check if entry is still free, as the government has been lobbying for it to start charging.

The Natural History Museum

The National History Museum is currently open, as stated on their official website. This year's Fantastic Beasts display seems like it will be a lot of fun for youngsters. This museum is one of the "big 3" in South Kensington, and you could spend days there and still not see everything. It is without question one of the most spectacular locations on the planet. The building's grand Victorian design is remarkable on its own, but once you're inside, you might find yourself staring down a whale or a dinosaur.

The British Museum  

The British Museum is open, according to their website. The Egyptian artefacts in the British Museum are incredible; they are not as good as those in Cairo's Egyptian Museum, and some of the exhibits may reasonably be argued to have been transferred back to Cairo, but if you're into Egyptology, mummies, and hieroglyphs, you'll be in seventh museum paradise. There are two separate interactive science centers for children, one on the ground floor geared at younger children (toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary schoolers) and one on the second story aimed towards middle school and high school students. The Launchpad, located on the third floor, offers numerous activities for children throughout the day, such as science exhibitions and hands-on exhibits. If you don't feel like waiting in line at the Natural History Museum, you might want to check out the Science Museum instead, or the Victoria and Albert Museum, which is right across the street.

The National Gallery of Art

Embark on a self-guided audio tour of The National Gallery with Vox City.
